In this winter of little snow in SE Alaska, we ended up getting eleven inches of the white stuff in March. We usually see nothing but snow all winter, so we went through snow withdrawals this year. We enjoyed every little bit that we did get, and March felt more like Christmas than December did!
Looking back at the lodge from the boardwalk after a night of snow.
Sunrise in Warm Springs Bay!
Clear Skies!
March is not too late to enjoy the Festivus Tree!
We even got to use the snow blower--one of the few times all winter!
Clearing the dock.
Shoveling out the skiff.
I wonder who's been playing in the snow?
Ah-Ha! River otters (aka land otters)!
Looks like he's having fun!
The otters aren't the only ones enjoying the snow. I wonder which prints belong to the mink?
Toni (our resident blue heron) feeding on the school of fish surrounding the dock.
It doesn't get any better than this!
Sunny skies and clear water (winter's lack of plankton makes for crystal clear water )!
Snowy reflections.
Snowy reflections being disrupted by a school of fish. (You have to look hard to see the fish, and if you look really hard you can see them in the center of the previous photo, too!)
